Annual Health & Fitness Expo set for April 19-21

 

The sixth annual St. Bernards Medical Group Health and Fitness Expo will be held Friday, April 19, through Sunday, April 21, at the ASU Convocation Center.

During the three-day event, area residents can take advantage of free health screenings and visit hundreds of booths featuring health and fitness services and products.  There will also be live demonstrations, educational programs, entertainment and free physicals for student athletes enrolled in Craighead County schools.

Gov. Beebe names Wynne man to head state agency

On Wednesday Governor Mike Beebe announced his appointement of James C. Luker of Wynne as the state's new Health Services Permit director.

The agency is responsible for issuing permits to nursing homes, residential care facilities, assisted living facilities and other agencies.

Luker replaces Deborah Frazier.

Gov. Beebe also announced the following appointments to boards and commissions:

Flu season is just around the corner.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the best way to avoid the nasty bug is to get vaccinated each year.

Pregnant women, young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk of developing serious flu complications, which can lead to death.

To make sure as many people as possible are immunized, the ADH will once again offer mass flu clinics across the state.

On Tuesday, October 23, shots will be administered at the Wynne Baptist Church, 1200 E. Bridges St., from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

1st Cross County Community Health Fair

The first-ever Cross County Community Health Fair will be held Saturday, October 6, on the Wynne High School campus.  Residents may participate in all the free activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Mrs. Sherry Breckenridge, who is the Parent Coordinator for the Wynne Public School District, is responsible for putting this wonderful event together. 

According to Mrs. Breckenridge the” health fair will include many interactive activities that the whole family can participate in, as well as watch many informative exhibitions”.
