Back 500 years ago American Indians didn’t have Ziploc bags and Tupperware sets.
Instead, they relied on Mother Nature for their containers. Specifically, they used gourds.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Parkin Archeological State Park will host a gourd workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants will learn the basics on how to prepare and decorate gourds the way the Mississippian inhabitants of Casqui did centuries ago.
Gourds, other materials and instruction will be provided for a fee of $20 per person.
