Man accused of attacking another with sledge hammer | Crime
Fairest “Sonny” Immel, 54, of Wynne is charged with aggravated assault after Cross County Sheriff J.R. Smith says he attacked another man with a sledge hammer.
According to the sheriff’s office report, Robert Austill went to Brown’s Shop, at the intersection of Highways 193 and 284, to talk with Roger Brown about an accident. Apparently Immel “got mad” at Austill and “started cussing him.”
Immel then reportedly got a sledge hammer and chased Austill to his car, hitting him on the right shoulder.
When deputies arrived, they say Immel was threatening Austill and cursed them.
Immel was arrested on aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening charges. He’s currently being held in the Cross County Jail.
