Deputy: Woman hid pot in her bra

Instead of tissues, a woman is accused of padding her bra with pot!

On Monday, April 16, a Cross County sheriff's deputy arrested Jo Anna Ross, 41, and Phillip Kent, Jr., 48, both of Cherry Valley.

According to the sheriff's report, the deputy stopped the couple on Highway 1 and County 376 after spotting Kent, who he knew had a suspended license, behind the wheel.

When the deputy approached the car, he reported smelling "intoxicants" coming from Kent's breath.  The deputy also reported smelling marijuana.

While searching the car, the deputy said he found an envelope containing marijuana and two marijuana cigarettes.  He also reported finding an unopened box pseudoephedrine, lithium batteries and lighter fluid; all items used to make methamphetamine.

Kent and Ross, who was a passenger, denied the items belonged to them, according to the report.  However, as the deputy was putting the couple in his car, Ross reportedly said "I have some marijuana in my bra."  She then pulled a white baggie full of pot out of her bra and handed it to the deputy, according to the report.

Ross was charged with criminal attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of ephedrine with intent to manufacture, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).  Her bond was set at $5,000.

Kent was arrested on the same charges, along with driving on a suspended driver's license, no proof of liability insurance and drinking on the highway.  His bond was also set at $5,000.
