Just 8 days after he registered as a Level 3 sex offender, a Parkin man is back behind bars.
Cross County sheriff’s deputies arrested Ed Smith Wednesday afternoon on charges he was living near a school or day care.
Smith, 49, was convicted in 1998 of first degree sexual abuse. According to the sheriff’s office, he forced his way into a woman’s home, then threatened her with a knife and forced her to engage in sexual activity.
On March 12, Smith registered with the sheriff’s office as a Level 3 sex offender. These offenders are considered a high risk to re-offend.
