Looking for a job?  Then McDonald’s is looking for you.

McDonald’s owner-operators throughout Your Region 8 will be hosting a hiring day Wednesday, July 18.

They are expected to hire as many as 1,000 new workers in Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, west Tennessee, north Mississippi and southwest Kentucky.

Jobs available include seasonal, full-time and part-time positions.

A workshop for start-up businesses will be held from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Arkansas State University Delta Center for Economic Development building, 319 University Loop Circle.

“Starting a Business in Arkansas:  How to get a New Business Started Right” is aimed at anyone considering starting a new business and wants to ensure it has the best potential to succeed regardless of economic conditions.

Want to learn how to use QuickBooks, the small business accounting software?

The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) can help.

The center is offering a 4-night, hands-on "Introduction to QuickBooks" workshop on the first and second Tuesday and Thursday of May.

The sessions will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. at the ASU Technical center, 5504 Krueger Dr.

Participants will learn the basics of the popular computerized accounting program and receive hands-on experience.

In 1970, Sissy Jones opened her first jewelry and antique store in Pine Bluff in an old log cabin.

Since then Sissy's Log Cabin has become synonymous for fine jewelry in Arkansas.  The store was so successful that in 2010 Jones opened a second store in Little Rock.

This Friday, March 16, Jones will open her third store in Jonesboro at 2900 Parkwood, off Stadium Boulevard.  Everyone is invited to drop by the store to pick up a free jewelry cleaner and register for a ring worth $1,000.

After months of speculation, Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate and Development announced Tuesday, March 13, that Five Guys Burgers and Fries is coming to Jonesboro.

The restaurant will be located at 2100 Stadium Blvd.  Construction is expected to begin immediately.

Five Guys is based in Washington, D.C. and has more than 900 restaurants in the United States and Canada.  The restaurant offers hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries.
