2012 Vacation Bible School

Gethsemane Baptist Church

200 SE 6th St. in Walnut Ridge

July 16-20, 6 p.m. 

Preschool (age 4) through 12th grade (age 18).  Busses will run every night.

Calling all race car fans, this year's theme is DRIVE!

Will include classes, music, giant inflatables, games and snacks.

Register now for summer reading program

 

Registration is underway for the Cross County Library’s 2012 Summer Reading Program.

All ages are encouraged to read books and earn prizes, including toys, ice cream, jewelry and more.

Everyone will receive a free T-shirt for participating.

You can register at any branch of the library.

You’ll do more than just read during the Summer Reading Program.  There will also be puppeteer shows, trips to the zoo, even a water slide.

Memorial Day weekend events open to the public

Memorial Day weekend events open to the public

 

Memorial Day weekend is May 25 through 28.  To mark the occasion, South Wind Heights of Jonesboro has planned several events and they’re all free to the public.

On Friday, May 25, it will host a backyard BBQ at noon.  An educational seminar about VA benefits available to veterans and their surviving spouses will be held Saturday, May 26, at 10 a.m.  On Sunday, May 27, there will be an open house with refreshments at 10 a.m.  A Memorial Day celebration with dinner and entertainment will be held at noon on Monday, May 28.

If you bought a pair of Skechers Shape-Ups believing they would help you tone up, you’re due for a refund.

Skechers USA has agreed to settle a lawsuit over how it marketed its Shape-Ups, Tone-Ups and Resistance Runner athletic shoes.

The lawsuit alleged that without adequate support for its claims, Skechers claimed the rocker-bottom shoes helped wearers lose weight, burn calories, improve circulation, fight cellulite and strengthen thigh, buttock and back muscles.

Wreck kills two outside of Marion

MARION (KAIT) - Two Wynne residents are dead after being involved in a three vehicle accident Monday afternoon in Crittenden County.

According to Arkansas State Police, Carl Baskin, of Marion, was traveling on Highway 64 about 5 miles west of Marion and entered the center lane to turn onto Cypress Creek Road when his truck hit another vehicle head-on in one of the eastbound lanes of Highway 64.

Two people in that second vehicle, David and Patti Fryer, of Wynne, were killed in the accident.
